In
addition, the movie presented a cliched tale of how some guy always
aspired to fly and as a child built his own human-propelled aircraft
and failed miserably at it. There’s the obligatory romantic
interest who is a childhood friend to the protagonist. Then there’s
the third party who is the pompous successful aviator that is the
envy of the protagonist’s eye. Of course, the girl is more interested
in the latter than the former. Anyway, the story leads up to a fly-off
where the main guy and the successful guy have to see who can fly
the fastest. To nobody’s surprise, the hero wins and the antagonist
loses. Then there’s the cheesy but requisite kissing scene at
the end where the guy wins the girl. That was one thing I did not
need to see in 3-D. Overall a pretty bad second short flick. During
the movie, Da-Chien cried a lot, so my Uncle Huei had to take him
out.
After the film, we went to the actual science museum. We couldn’t
get in at first because we had misplaced our tickets, but the 3-D
glasses we had seemed to prove that we had indeed paid for our tickets.
This science museum turned out to be even bigger and even more interesting
than the other one I had visited earlier in the week. There were a
lot of very interesting exhibits; especially the ones with the holograms
and the one where you can stand inside a bubble. There was one exhibit
that had to do with alpha, beta, and gamma rays. Images of people
were projected onto a real surface which made it seem as if the people
were actually there.

The
images even interacted with the environment realistically.
We soon finished visiting all four floors of the museum
and went outside to the playground. There was a DNA shaped jungle
gym that Da-Ging and Da-Quan climbed on. I think Da-Quan was scared
to climb to the top. The kids also did flips for my camera. I filmed
Da-Chien a little, which was quite fun. My second uncle arrived to
pick us up. They were going to take us up the mountain to eat fresh
seafood delicacies. They had brought along their pet dog, Kiki. Da-Quan
and Da-Chien seemed to like Kiki a lot as they kept petting him. Before
we went to eat dinner, we stopped by a college in Taichung. My uncle,
aunt’s husband, had gone there as an undergraduate. It was an
interesting and beautiful place. The walkway that led up to the school
library was especially beautiful because it seemed like a painting
when you looked down the path. After walking around, we then went
up the mountain.
The car ride took about forty minutes and Da-Quan fell
asleep in my lap as we drove. We arrived at this remote location,
after twisting and turning through various tortuous one-way paths.
The place overlooked Taichung. The diner was also an outside diner,
as it really didn’t have a building. It was sort of like being
in the park, on the hill, and barbecuing.
