So, for the past couple of days, I have been getting up late in the morning and today was no exception. It’s the day before I have to go back to California and I kind of feel sorry that I have to go home so soon. Once again, I went on to the Internet and found my friend online. He was talking about having classes on Mondays through Thursdays only. Anyway, grandma was going to come over today to go shopping with us. For breakfast, I had moon cake. It was still more than a week before the Moon Festival though. When grandma arrived, Da-Chien, my aunt, and I went to the RT Market and Costco to buy food. I had actually gone to the RT Market the first day I was here in Taiwan.

The RT Market is definitely a great place to buy food. Practically everything you could ever need inside a house is in there. Da-Chien was very excited about going apparently as he was bouncing around in the car. My aunt accidentally scraped the side of her car when she made too sharp of a turn into a pillar. It only left a long scratch. As a side note, I found the way the market kept customers from stealing shopping carts to be very interesting. All the carts were joined together by a chain and you could only free a cart from the chain by inserting a 10 dollar coin. Then, after you shop you would get your coin back after you reattached the chain to the cart; very ingenious indeed. Before we went shopping, my aunt and I had some Starbucks. Grandma didn’t want Starbucks, so she watched Da-Chien as he rode one of those automated rides that you usually find in front of supermarkets.
I ordered a Caramel Macchiato while my aunt had a mocha. Inside, my aunt and grandma bought a lot of groceries. It cost quite a bit. There were many free samples given at the market and Da-Chien enjoyed eating them up.

Afterward, we went to Costco, which was right next door. Since there is very little room in Taiwan, most buildings and markets are usually built upward instead of outward. Costco was no exception. The parking was underneath and there were two stories. There was an escalator that took you to the top floor to start shopping. Everything else looked pretty much similar. An elderly couple asked me to try on an overcoat for them because they were going to buy it for their son and they thought my size was about their son’s size. Grandma, again, bought too much. She spent up to 3000 NTs, which translates to about 85 American dollars. Da-Chien enjoyed standing inside the shopping cart and having all the food be put into the cart. For lunch, we ate at the Costco eatery. I had myself a hot dog and a slice of Taiwan pizza. My aunt also bought a chicken bake and clam chowder. Grandma thought it was just ok. I thought it was the best hot dog I’ve ever had.

Soon after we left Costco, we went to pick up Da-Ging from school. Once we got home, my aunt had to take him to English school.
