Today,
I woke up later than usual and went online and found that some friends
were also online. One of my friends requested that I buy for her Hello
Kitty merchandise and so I agreed that if I saw anything, I would
look into it for her. Afterward, I ate a simple breakfast consisting
of pancakes and coffee. It seems today, we will be going to the fine
arts museum. My uncle and family had gone off to work so it was just
going to be my aunt who would take me there.
We drove to the museum and when we finally arrived there, we couldn’t
find parking. There were no directions or signs directing us to the
parking lot. Eventually, we found the parking lot and went to the
museum. The museum was pretty big and had various sculptures outside.
Some of which, I couldn’t appreciate since I didn’t understand
it. Inside the museum, we bought our tickets. Like the National Palace
Museum, there was an audio tour available. However, this one was for
free unlike at the Palace Museum. Unfortunately, we couldn’t
bring our cameras or backpacks into the museum and had to leave them
at the front counter. The inside of the museum was interesting. There
were many paintings, sculptures, and mini-models of houses on the
first floor. Although I didn’t get it, I tried to appreciate
it as best I could. There was an area where different odd looking
beds were displayed. Some beds had grass on it and some beds had holes
in it. I kept on wondering to myself why this was considered art.

In
addition to the odd-looking beds, there were also many odd looking
paintings. Some were drawn well and some were drawn in such a bizarre
fashion, that I couldn’t tell what was being depicted. There
was even one painting that had three parallel lines drawn. This was
art? I just didn’t get it. However, the audio tour was somewhat
helpful in clarifying some of the paintings.
On the third floor, there were many architectural arts.
There was one particular exhibit that had a model of a guy with his
head in the TV. The TV screen displayed the guy’s head moving
around. I thought the guy was real at first, but I soon discovered
that it wasn’t. My aunt thought that the person was real as
well. There was also one section devoted to black and white photographs.
The pictures were pretty depressing to look at since most of them
were of impoverished people. Overall, this was a pretty interesting
museum. There were also some students there on assignment. Some of
them had the assignment of drawing certain architectural models.
After the museum, we took off for the Takashimaya mall.
Before arriving at the mall, we went to the gas station. Like all
stations in Taiwan, the station was fully equipped with people who
filled up your gas and squeegeed your windows.
