The
rest of my second uncle’s family arrived: a younger cousin,
an older cousin, their friends, and my second uncle’s wife’s
mother and brother. I politely greeted them and we all sat down for
dinner. Dinner, to say the least, was delicious. They actually bought
the seafood, they barbecued, live. Though it was great, it was a lot.
I think I ate the most during this meal than at any other meals. We
ate for a very long time too; almost 2 and a half-hours. This was
also probably due to the fact that we also listened to some people
sing on the Karaoke machine that was there. The machine was set up
so that you had to pay money to sing. I don’t know if it was
just me, but I thought they sounded horrible. I think it was mainly
because the machine echoed whenever they uttered a word and there
was this incessant feedback noise in the background. Plus, they were
out of tune. Though, I did think one girl sang well enough to be bearable.
Getting back down took another long drive and we first dropped off
my aunt and her family at a hotel. I was going to stay at my second
uncle’s apartment. At the apartment, I was called home and assured
my mom that I had arrived safely in Taichung. All in all, an exciting
Saturday.
